How I Am Revamping My Style
It’s happening again. I’m starring into the void that is my closet saying I have nothing to wear. Whenever I catch myself constantly saying this, I know it’s time for a style revamp!
Step one is get rid of anything you don’t wear.
This is a whole other topic we can get into another time. Just know you have the get rid of somethings to make room for the new stuff.
Step two discover your style uniform or uniforms.
This is what type of outfit you wear every day and focusing on that first. Essentially if you wear jeans and a tee 95% of the time don’t worry about getting stuff for fancy events if you don’t have any in the immediate future.
I have narrowed my style uniform to 3 main ones that are all very similar but different enough for me to be their own classification.
Step 3 dive into each one.
Find out what’s not working and how you plan to revamp each.
Here are my uniform break downs and how I plan to revamp them.
Workwear
I work in an office job and yes, I have to go into the office every day. The dress code is pretty relaxed, business casual so for me that’s closed toe shoes and a collared shirt.
Even though I work in a cube farm kind of office it’s not uncommon for me to have to go to the warehouse or be moving boxes. Therefore, it’s very important that I can easily move in my clothes.
Most days it’s sneakers or vans style of shoes, always flat. Jeans are nice and simple. I have found for tops golf shirts work best for me.
I hit the jackpot when I discovered golf shirts! They are collared and modest for the office but athletic enough that I can easily move boxes without having to worry about ripping.
The part that’s not working for me is how my jeans fit. It’s not that they don’t fit because they look fine. But they are all getting a bit worn. The knees are baggy, the length has shrunk, and material integrity is pretty well gone too. I haven’t gotten new jeans since 2020 and I wear them every day, so I think it’s time.
I like the simple, minimalistic, almost utilitarian style of my workwear. It’s super easy to get ready it the mornings.
To revamp this section all I’m planning on doing is get new jeans that fit a bit better. Probably the same style I currently have just new and not worn out.
Home Hustle
Uniform number two is what I like to call the home hustle outfit. Really, it’s just what I change into after work or what I put on if I’m not leaving the house besides to get the mail.
There are no shoes to this outfit. It isn’t even a complete outfit but next to the work ‘uniform’ it’s what I wear the most. So it gets its own category.
It’s comfy socks, leggings or sweatpants, and a tee shirt or sweater.
The revamp includes possibly getting one or two nice legging and matching top sets to create more of a ‘that girl’ vibe and less frumpy bum look.
Dog Mom
This is a new uniform for me, but I feel like it’s what the Home Hustle outfit is going to evolve to. I need something comfy and casual but still want it to be kind of stylish to wear when taking Maisie on walks, to the dog park, and whatever else we get up to.
I’m thinking leggings or jeans with a hoodie or tee and jacket. Finishing off the look with very practical shoes like tennis shoes, rain boots, or walking sandals.
I already got the rainboots from target the other weekend for the purpose of leaving by the front door to throw on with my home hustle outfit to take Maisie on quick little walks to do her business.
The rest of the revamp will be a wait a see for this section I’m hoping after the new jeans and matching yoga sets I’ll be in good standing.
